At Ladysmith Junior School, we offer a wide range of music tuition through our peripatetic music teachers. We are very proud of the work of our children and the progress they make in their music tuition. This is celebrated each term with a music concert to showcase all of their work.
Music lessons are often in demand so some instruments may have a waiting list. Please see details below of our peripatetic music teachers and how to contact them.
Laura Cook teaches piano, recorder, clarinet and saxophone lessons at Ladysmith Junior and Infant School. She studied clarinet at university, and plays with Devon Philharmonic Orchestra and Exeter Symphony Orchestra, regularly performing concerts in Exeter Cathedral. Laura also plays in Exeter Jazz Orchestra, and enjoys touring with a Bublè Christmas tribute show.
Piano lessons are currently fully booked, but your child can be added to a waiting list.
Chris Spreadbury is the school’s brass teacher. Through his company [bandstars.co.uk]BandStars, he delivers small group and individual brass lessons to children in Year 3 and upwards. All brass pupils also play in the school brass band – who perform in termly concerts at the school, as well as occasional performances outside of school such as the Devon County Show.
There are a range of brass instruments available: Cornet, Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, and Euphonium. Because children won’t know which they want to play at first, Chris offers a free trial lesson to those who would like to give it a go. [bandstars.co.uk/for-parents]Click here to sign up!
